Bitumen Vg10
Everything you must know about Bitumen VG10:
Bitumen VG10 is a grade of refinery bitumen obtained from vacuum aeration of distillation tower baton and divided according to their viscosity. Bitumen VG10 is widely used for spraying applications in areas such as surface coating and road paving in place of the older 80/100 permeability grade. It is also used to produce bitumen emulsions and modified bitumen products.
how is produced Bitumen VG10?
Bitumen VG10 is one of the production and it is exported in large quantities. Exported bitumen VG10 is supplied from the largest and most reliable refineries in Iran. Almost some of bitumen company is able to produce and supply bitumen grade 10VG in different packages, including standard export barrels of 160 kg and standard export barrels of 240 kg, as well as packaging in flexi molds in high and closed volumes according to the choice of its customers.
Bitumen companies in iran has been able to take a big step in promoting high-quality bitumen VG10 by producing this type of bitumen, packaging, packaging and exporting it to more than 40 countries in the world.

Applications of bitumen VG10
The most common use of this type of bitumen is in road construction, insulation, building construction and liquid bitumen production. In terms of the place of use, bitumen VG10 is more suitable for cold climates. In the classification based on the viscosity of bitumens according to the value of absolute viscosity at 60°C or kinematic viscosity at 135°C, the classification and direction of each of them have been determined by specific technical standards. Absolute viscosity is expressed in poise and kinematic viscosity is expressed in centi-Stokes. Classification and characteristics of pure bitumen are reported in AASHTO-M226 and ASTM-D3381 standards.
Charactristics of bitumen VG10:
Black binders include bituminous and tar materials. Today, two types of mineral bitumen and petroleum bitumen are used in construction. The notable general characteristics of black adhesives are: impermeability against moisture and water, electrical insulation, stability against acids, bases and salts, elasticity, adhesion to other materials and the formation of a thin layer on them.
On the other hand, black adhesives have disadvantages, the most important of which are: decomposition in high heat and turning them into coal with ignition, loss of their adhesion in humid environments contaminated with soil and soft materials, and deformation Against pressure and some solvents.

Advantages of Bitumen VG10:
Bitumen VG10 is suitable for temperature below 30◦C so It has better resistance to changes in temperature for cold regions. Bitumen VG10 has a higher Penetration Value in comparison to some types of bitumens such as VG-30 and VG-40. Also it gives high performance against repeated freeze-thaw cycles. The bitumen VG-10’s temperature is between 140⁰C-160⁰C and the laying temp is 130⁰C. It is used for road construction in cold regions and because of its low viscosity, bitumen VG-10 performs well when spraying and surface dressing is needed.
