Bitumen Vg30

Bitumen VG30 is a grade of refinery bitumen obtained from vacuum aeration of distillation tower baton and divided according to their viscosity.

This type of bitumen is primarily used for the construction of super-heavy bituminous pavements, which must bear significant traffic loads. The most common use of this type of bitumen is in road construction, insulation, building construction and liquid bitumen production. In terms of place of use, 30VG bitumen is more suitable for temperate climates. Bitumen VG30 can be used instead of 60/70 penetrating bitumen.

What is bitumen VG 30 ?

Another type of refinery bitumen, which is a type of vacuum bitumen produced by aeration, is bitumen VG 30. Buying bitumen of this type in order to use it in projects of super-heavy bituminous pavements or construction/road construction projects that must bear a heavy traffic load. Apart from the road construction industry, bitumen VG 30 is also used in insulation, construction, and liquid bitumen production.

According to the climate category, bitumen VG 30 is suitable for temperate climate regions. The choice of bitumen based on the geographical location and temperature of the place of use has an important impact on the life and health of the project, as well as the duration of the effect. Even if it is pavement asphalt or building and surface insulation or other cases.

VG viscosity class bitumens:

It is called a grade of refinery bitumen obtained from the vacuum aeration of the distillation tower and divided according to their viscosity. The most common use of this type of bitumen is in road construction, insulation, building construction and liquid bitumen production. In terms of place of use, VG30 bitumen is more suitable for temperate climates.

In the classification based on the viscosity of bitumens according to the value of absolute viscosity at 60°C or kinematic viscosity at 135°C, the classification and direction of each of them have been determined by specific technical standards. Absolute viscosity is expressed in poise and kinematic viscosity is expressed in centi-Stokes. Classification and characteristics of pure bitumen are reported in AASHTO-M226 and ASTM-D3381 standards.

Viscosity grade bitumen (VG)

The higher the temperature, the harder the bitumen is. In the viscosity grade, the viscosity test is measured at 60 and 135, which is the temperature of the road surface in summer and the temperature of mixing asphalt, respectively. The degree of penetration at a temperature of 25 degrees, which is the average annual temperature of the asphalt coating, is also specified in the specifications of this bitumen standard. Viscosity category bitumens are classified based on the viscosity test results. This category of bitumen, which has many uses in areas like India, will soon replace penetrating bitumen in these areas.
